I should have read the reviews first : Comfort Seats C1B2E1-18BR Decorative Oak Wood Elongated Toilet Seat with Polished Brass Hinges, Dark Oak
I agree with both of the 1st two reviewer (I was in a hurry and did not read the reviews before purchasing), it looks great in the picture but when I got it out of the box I was quite disappointed in the poor quality of the hinge and that the seat is really made of resin board with a thin oak laminate on the top surface of the seat and cover. On the plus side the stained finish is nice and the color difference between the two materials is minimal, but every time I look at it I will know. I guess you get what you pay for since most solid wood seats are usually $75+.
The hinge was so sloppy (the seat slides side-to-side a good �") that I ended up taking the hinge off my old cracked seat, polishing it up with some steel wool, and attached it to this one.
If you can afford it, spend the money for something better.
